Ruston Fire Department hose drills

I've been trying to figure out why Wayne Stebner is so set on getting rid of our Fire Department in favor of a contract with the Tacoma Fire Department when such a move is so contrary to the Town's best interests.

The Town already has experience in this. Back in 1985, the Town opted for a contract with Tacoma. It lasted about a year and a half. The costs were outrageous. The call response times increased dramatically, which resulted in decreased public safety for the Town of Ruston. A couple of King County area fire departments recently merged to create one larger fire department. The result there has been very similar ... it's taking a lot longer to arrive on the scene of emergency calls.

Mr. Stebner is a new kid on the block around here. He has a lot to learn. But when that bit of Ruston history regarding fire service was brought to his attention at a council meeting, he chose to ignore it. One who is informed about history and chooses to ignore it must be an utter fool. So either Mr. Stebner is a fool, or there is something personal in this for him. Is it about money? Is there a financial benefit somewhere for him if he gets Ruston to sign on with the Tacoma Fire Department? What is going on in his mind that could possibly make this a reasonable move? Some have joked that maybe he has gay lover in the Tacoma Fire Department. I wonder why any other council members would go along with him?
